am instalat mplayer si mplayer-gui cu urpmi
la deschiderea unui fisier avi primesc urmatoarele linii:

ce inseamna asta?
Din consola modurile video disponibile le listezi cu
mplayer -vo help
(dupa cum iti sugereaza si programul) si le incerci cu
mplayer -vo numemod /calecatre/numefisier.avi
Instaleaza si mplayer-gui. Este interfata grafica de la Mpalyer. Lansezi apoi programul cu gmplayer. Vei vedea in preferinte modurile video disponibile si le poti selecta dupa cum doresti mult mai usor.
Ca sa intelegi ce este cu aceste moduri citeste documentatia de pe situl oficial. Este foarte bine scrisa si structurata, vei gasi usor capitolul care te intereseaza.

s-a rezolvat din gmplayer, mergand in preferences, tabul video, si alegand x11
am citit si linkul postat, http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design7/info.html#docs si parca m-am mai lamurit, chiar daca nu inteleg chiar toate ce ar insemna
apar alte probleme acum, odata ce am vazut imaginea: am constatat ca subtitrarea este aiurea, in sensul ca este translatata si, desi ii dau sa imi arate on screen un progress bar, nu imi arata nimic
oricum, asta este un progres, sa vad filme pe linux ;)
... si revenire
am umblat si la tabul codecs & demuxer din preferences si am ales FFmpeg codecs family
apropos de video, exista vre-un utilitar linux similar lui Gspot pt windows?
Gspot rulat cu Wine :-D Merge, l-am folosit eu o vreme deoarece verificam codecurile pentru un E-boda 555x. In linia de comanda sa stii ca si MPlayer iti furnizeaza foarte multe informatii dupa cum poti vedea si in primul tau post. Daca vrei calitate si viteza pentru MPlayer compileaza-l tu din surse si vei avea cel mai bun player video pe care l-am folosit vreodata. Ca MPlayer sa iti arate functiile pe ecran (OSD) trebuie sa activezi acesta optiune. Exista mai multe niveluri prin care se trece cu tasta O . Citeste te rog tutorialul de la noi de pe site de la rubrica invata, sunt mai multe comenzi detaliate in el si procedura de compilare din surse.
